The two actually go hand in hand, self hypnosis and relaxation. It would be difficult to be in the hypnotic state, daydream state, and not be relaxed. And it is not only well known but a documented fact through research that there is an added benefit when we sit and relax and use self hypnosis. Self hypnosis and relaxation is not only natural but beneficial.

I was talking with a friend of mine who I never would have considered to be curious about what I do as a hypnotism professional but he had asked me about hypnosis. Dave asked, "Can you do hypnosis alone or does someone have to come see someone like you?" This is a common question and I was glad he asked. I told him that when we do self hypnosis and relaxation happens automatically not only can you do it alone but there are so many benefits. He then asked the big question, "How do you do it." My answer was simple, Dave, we all do it all the time we just don't call it self hypnosis."

Whenever we sit or are in a busy environment and drift off, zone out, space out, call it what you will, we enter the state known as the hypnotic state. We do this especially when we are driving on a highway. How many times have you driven a distance and didn't realize the time that went by or the fact that you drove just fine? It happens all the time. When we use self hypnosis and relaxation intentionally we can then use this natural process we experience to enhance our lives. Once we enter the self hypnosis and relaxation state we can then begin to create and this is done through our imagination. People don't realize how much impact our thoughts have on our reality but when you do you can begin to use your thoughts to create situations in life, attract opportunities and use that time more effectively. Self hypnosis and relaxation not only go hand in hand, as it's a natural response to relax when using self hypnosis, but it's been the safe, natural and effective process to behavior change throughout time. But when you enter the word hypnosis people think it's something new but there's nothing new about it. Guided imagery and visualization that athletes use is actually self hypnosis and relaxation. They relax their bodies and then their minds, stop the internal chatter with thinking thoughts and create the game they WILL play before they actual play it. They use self hypnosis relax and then create their future in their minds and call it mind practice. We can do the same and call it life practice.
