...Com Quit Smoking

I get a lot of email from people around the world. Some are like me, they are not as precise when they type and send the email with typos and the message can be messed up. Sometimes the best words aren't used and because there is no tone in email, again, the message can be messed up. When I first saw an email I received with those words in the title in the message I wondered," Did they mean I want to come quit smoking or is there a dot com quit smoking website?"

I couldn't quite figure it out. If it was come quit smoking and they meant come, then it would be an assumption I'm a smoker, which I'm not, and to come join them to quit smoking. But that couldn't be it. If it was some broken part of a sentence about a dot com site then it would make more sense but still, I didn't think that could be it either. Now believe me when I tell you that no matter where I am in the world, teaching, speaking or doing sessions with someone, I always answer my email and at the latest within 24 hours. It's become such a way of life for many of us and I feel the responsibility is mine to respond if people are at my websites and need or want information. But this was one of those times I ignored the com quit smoking message. I figured if they really want a response and I don't reply, they'll email again. And at that time I can show that in my defense I had no idea what the message was and if it was even authentic. Maybe it was some spammer's code or something. You never know these days. But I have to tell you, that's not even close to being at the top part of the list of peculiar, crazy or unbelievable messages in an email. I have received some funky and bizarre requests over time and few of them were pranks. Actually, it's almost never that I get an email message off one of my websites that is a prank, they're usually just bizarre or from people who obviously have no idea at all what hypnosis is. And I don't mean like the com quit smoking confusing message, I mean people who still think hypnosis is some deep woods, underground, voodoo, mystical, magical freak show. It's simple folks, when you daydream, drift off a bit and get startled, you were in a light trance. As my friend Ron Eslinger says when he's asked what's hypnosis he replies, "It's a word." And the word was coined by Dr. James Braid in a book he wrote in 1843. Can you imagine people still don't know the simple and basic truths about hypnosis to this day?

Anyway, I hope the person who sent that message, and by the way they never did send another, found what they were looking for whether it was a dot come site to help stop smoking or some free hypnosis smoking program that might be out there.
