Labor Day, Routines & Adjustments

Hello once again and Happy Labor Day. When I was sitting around waiting for company to arrive for our Labor Day Pool Party, which was under a gloomy sky and in 60 degree weather, I had thoughts about what Labor Day means. It seems to me the original meaning has taken second place to Labor Day having become a symbol of getting back into life routines.

Though we have a totally different routine when the kids are out of school and weather changes to be more comfortable for a lot of us, the basic routine we all have in life is when work and school are in full swing and the holiday season is ahead of us. But not all people have an easy go of it. I know I’m having pool withdrawl, no more lounging around outside in a pair of shorts barbecueing away and swimming at will. New England doesn’t allow for that once Labor Day arrives and the days become shorter and colder. So, what are we to do when we start getting stressed, disappointed and even look at the change of routine with disgust and cynicism?

Well, if you read this blog or anything I have published on or off the internet, you know that all emotions begin with a thought. One simple thought changes our entire state, feelings, emotions and behaviors that follow. So take a break each day, go to that beautiful and perfect place within your own mind and change your thoughts in ways that will empower you, remove stress and keep you focused and happy. We had a nice summer break but if we vacation, swim and barbecue too much, we will surely face the consequences eventually. Happy Labor Day!
