Today, before I head out to the NGH Convention and Educational Conference, I was thinking about something my dad used to say. And I’m sure you may have heard the same words passed down through time, “If your friend jumped off a bridge, would you?” Maybe some father or mother in ancient Egypt asked, “If your friend jumped off the pyramid, would you?” The point is, as we know now and knew then, we were being asked if we were a follower. Knowing what I do about the power of suggestion (waking hypnosis) I realize my dad directed me to my success. He was from the “old school” and saw things more simply and clearly. He always would say, “I’m not bringing up followers, I’m bringing up leaders.” Being the oldest of 4, I heard this more than any of my siblings. Well, “Thank You Dad” because I am not one of those penguins in the middle of the pack, letting others lead me as to where I go and what I do.
Are you a leader? Do you choose what you’ll do and where you’ll go and how you’ll live? Do you have the confidence it takes to be true to yourself and find your personal happiness? Or have you, like the vast majority of people, fallen into that trap of blindly following and don’t even realize it?
Imagine a dogsled team. Only one husky sees the horizon and chooses the path. Think about what all the other dogs see…. do you know the answer? Yes, it’s the butt in front of them. Nice view? So what do you see in front of you?
Start seeing the horizon, choose YOUR path and set yourself free. You will be amazed at how quickly you can make this change.
