Instinct as a Guide

 Instinct to Survive

Look at this picture and notice instinct at work. Though the deer can’t think and reason, as we humans can, they survive because of the instinct to stand in water during the fire.

If we focused more on our natural instinctive reaction, our internal guide, we would eliminate so many problems. Can you just imagine how long a person may have spent finding a way to get out of the fire before realizing they could simply stand in the water and wait?

This is most commonly noticed when we eat when not hungry (instinct signal it’s time to eat = appetite) or we continue eating past the time that hunger feeling is gone. Then we end up with extra weight in stored fat, minor or major health issues and even disease. Imagine how much easier life is to manage when we use what was given at birth… instinct.

You probably have referred to this as your “gut feeling” and knew you should have gone with your “first thought.” Do you recall the television commercial that told us, “It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature?” When we go against our instincts, we can cause the problems we receive.
